Helping bring confidence to care leavers

A few weeks ago I posted about the support I wanted to find for a young care leaver…and I’m thrilled that I have been able to make it happen for her.

Louise had secured a job in a contact centre but had some anxieties about how she would cope with difficult, rude or angry customers.

I knew that Jessica Berrill at Starting Off did an amazing job supporting Apprentices at BSH in Kettering where they represent high quality brands like Bosch, Siemens, Neff and Gaggenau…so I asked Jess if she could help.

A couple of weeks later and BSH’s Customer Service Team Leader, Charlene Webb, met Louise in their reception and offered to show her around. Louise had the opportunity to listen in on some calls, talk to staff doing the job right now and chat through how they deal with the more challenging calls. Louise found it a great and really worthwhile experience that has really helped her confidence. She was particularly struck by the warm welcome she received from Charlene.

Huge thanks to Jess at Starting Off and Charlene at BSH for making such a difference to Louise.

Louise is being supported by an incredible, local not for profit organisation called Right Resolution. You can find out more about their work with young people leaving care right here: www.rightresolutioncic.org
