What a difference a year can make. 👏

Dale was back in Nottingham, working with around 90 sixth form students from six schools in the East Midlands Education Trust.

He started with a powerful message from someone who was sitting in exactly the same room, at exactly the same session, just 12 months ago.

Jacob Brand-Rea (alumni The Joseph Whitaker School) is now a Business Degree Apprentice at Rolls-Royce. He sent us a selfie video telling the students that he'd been exactly where they were sitting last year, and look where he is now!

Dale also shared a slide from Jake Williams, (alumni Highfields School) another student who attended last year's session and has since secured a Degree Apprenticeship at AECOM.

It was great to make an opportunity feel achievable by showing students they know, who have already achieved success.

And yesterday, it was time for the next group to get to work.

We spent the session shaping CVs that would get them into the interview room, focusing on:

âś… A personal summary that grabs an employer's attention.

âś… A simple, clear layout that makes a CV easy to navigate.

âś… Relevant content, including work experience and evidence of their skills.

âś… And, crucially, making sure their A Levels get the attention they deserve!

Some of these students are applying for apprenticeships instead of university.....others are applying for both.

Either way, the aim is the same...to help them put together great applications.

And were not finished yet!

We'll be back together in November to work on LinkedIn and How to Smash Your Interview.

Who knows? Perhaps next year's session will start with a video from one of yesterday's students, sharing their own success story.

Thats the ripple effect Dale is hoping to create. 🌊
