Is online careers support making a comeback in schools? 👨🏻‍💻
In the last few weeks, Dale has had more requests for online presentations during the school day than at any point since.....well probably since we came out of the Covid period.
And it's got us thinking. 🤔
At My Great First Job, we've recently delivered online sessions for schools and educational organisations right across the country, covering a wide range of careers topics.
Heres just a snapshot:
🎓 Degree Apprenticeships
Gordonstoun School, Scotland - recorded session for students
Reigate Grammar School - parents and students webinar with alumni
Repton School - parents and students webinar with alumni
đź’Ľ Personal Branding
Linking London, part of the Uni Connect network
🔎 Finding Work Experience
Kimberley College, with a webinar for parents and pupils
📝 Getting Career-Ready
St Thomas More Catholic School, with sessions on CV Writing / How to Smash Your Interview
St Ambrose College, with a session on LinkedIn for Students
From Manchester and Surrey to Moray in Scotland, Bedfordshire, the West Midlands, London and Derbyshire, online delivery has enabled Dale to reach students, parents and teachers right across the country.
And it's not just about sessions during the school day.
Our three 'open' evening careers webinars this term have attracted more than 1,800 live attendees!
That's a significant audience of young people and parents looking for practical careers advice.
It's made us think seriously about expanding our offer of live webinars, both within the school timetable and through evening sessions designed to reach parents.
Online delivery certainly doesn't replace the value of being in a school, working directly with students. But it does create opportunities to reach more people, involve parents and bring other speakers (especially alumni) into schools in a flexible way.
We are based in Northampton.....if you're miles away and need a single session on something like LinkedIn, perhaps we could explore whether an online session could work well for you?
