Last week My Great First Job ran the first of our Multi Academy Trust Degree Apprenticeship Support Sessions with – East Midlands Education Trust.

This time of year, so much attention rightfully goes toward university applications… yet some Year 13 students pursuing Higher and Degree Apprenticeships can feel unseen. They need the same level of guidance, confidence-building, and practical tools – but budget constraints can make this difficult.

So we’ve created a new, cost-effective model:

➡️ The MAT hosts the session at one of their schools

➡️ All schools in the trust attend

➡️ The cost is shared equally

If six schools attend, the cost is divided six ways!

Every student benefits – without any single school having to stretch beyond its budget.

Six EMET schools brought their Year 13s to Kimberley School, where we spent the day:

💻 Crafting standout CVs

💪 Building a strong and authentic personal brand

💡 Developing clarity and purpose in their apprenticeship applications

Some of the feedback from Heads of Sixth Form:

“The students were engaged from the start, tapping ferociously on their devices as Dale offered infinite amounts of wisdom and experience. Their confidence increased tenfold. Dale and William were so engaging, knowledgeable and approachable. It was a 5* day.”

“Thank you so much for such a brilliant session at Kimberley School.”

And from a Year 13 student:

“The CV work was intuitive and helped me fix the faults in mine. It’s sparked more motivation to apply for degree apprenticeships. I feel with the tools you provided, I have a greater chance of success.”

A simple, scaleable way to level the playing field and make sure all students get the info they need.

I'm looking forward to returning in January for a half day of "Smash Your Interviews" and "Linkedin For Students."

If you’re part of a Multi Academy Trust and want to ensure your apprenticeship-focused students get the support they deserve, without stretching individual school budgets, this model could work for you.
