65 Students from 6 Schools - collaboration across the Trust
65 Students from 6 Schools - collaboration across the Trust

Yesterday My Great First Job delivered a second workshop to the same brilliant group of year 13 students from 6 schools within the same Multi Academy Trust - East Midlands Education Trust.

This time we focused on:

🎯 How to Absolutely Smash Your Interview

💼 LinkedIn for Students

A huge thank you to Jensen Jowett, an aspiring organic chemist. We unpacked how his part-time café job in a leisure centre isn’t just earning him money - it’s helping him build powerful, transferable skills that will support a future career in chemistry. 🧪

🕰️ Time management

📣 Communication

🌀 Flexibility

👂 Listening Skills

⏰ Organisational Skills

All of these visually demonstrated by Jensen holding an impressive collection of skills… think a human version of Buckaroo 😄

Jensen with his impressive skill set!

65 students from 6 different schools, all came together for shared, high-quality careers support....proof that collaboration across a trust can keep costs affordable, without compromising on impact for sixth formers exploring alternatives to the traditional university route.

One of the standout moments?

A student who had been applying unsuccessfully for Degree Apprenticeships prior to our first session. After making changes to her CV (which we covered in session 1), she’s now:

✔️ Being invited to interviews

✔️ Progressed to the next stage in three applications

Exactly why this work matters. 🙂
